“No Easy Way Out" has been a song of many lives, starting as a guitar part that my old friend and collaborator, Patrick Gamsby came up with over 20 years ago. 10 years later, it resurfaced on a tour of Western Canada. We were staying in a beautiful farmhouse, somewhere in Alberta on a day off. During a jam, Bryan Butler, who was touring with our band, The Warped 45s at the time, contributed some additional ideas. But, again it disappeared until a few months back when a story about a war-torn couple led to some lyrics that just seemed to fit right into the chord structure. With some musical contributions from some friends and bandmates, the track landed where you hear it today. I was honoured to have my great friend, bandmate, and multi-faceted musical mastermind, Annelise Norohna, mix the track.
